2nd Annual Good Samaritan Foundation Dinner Unveils
New Event, Top Athletes
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sports America, Inc. and former Washington
Redskins Art Monk and Charles Mann officially announced
the kick-off of The Good Samaritan Bowl, a new high
school all-star football game, at the second annual
Good Samaritan Foundation Dinner on Thursday, November
18. The Good Samaritan Bowl will be played at Navy-Marine
Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday,
June 11, 2005 and feature the top Division I football
recruits from the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metropolitan
areas. Proceeds will benefit The Good Samaritan Foundation,
a nonprofit organization founded by Monk and Mann in
1993, which helps underserved youth in Washington, D.C.
The Good Samaritan Foundation Dinner honored the top
40 prep football players from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan
area. In addition, the dinner included the presentation
of the second annual Art Monk Good Samaritan Offensive
Player-of-the-Year and Charles Mann Good Samaritan Defensive
Player-of-the-Year Awards. Northwest High Schoolâs
(Germantown, MD) star quarterback Ike Whitaker won the
offensive award, while DeMatha Catholicâs (Hyattsville,
MD) all purpose linebacker Kenny Jefferson won the defensive
award.
A 6-5, 205 pound quarterback, Whitaker has thrown for
over 1900 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while
leading the Northwest Jaguars to a 12-1 record. Jefferson
is a 6-1, 248 pound linebacker/fullback who has helped
the DeMatha Stags to an 10-1 record, while amassing
108 tackles and seven sacks. Jefferson has verbally
committed to Virginia Tech.
"Weâre excited about launching an annual
event for metro area sports fans and also raising money
for a top youth organization," said Bob Geoghan,
founder and President of Sports America, Inc. "We
created the game to brand The Good Samaritan Foundation
and also showcase the areaâs top athletes in a
first-class venue."
Monk and Mann were announced as the Co-Honorary Chairmen
of The Good Samaritan Bowl, with net proceeds from the
game benefiting their foundation. This regional high
school all-star event will feature the Super 44 South
Team which will be made up of players from DC, Northern
Virginia, Montgomery and Prince Georgeâs County
vs. the Super 44 North Team, which will comprise of
players from Baltimore County and surrounding counties
such as Cecil, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Calvert and Howard.
Participating players will be selected by their respective
coaches to represent their region.

Monk, co-founder of The Good Samaritan Foundation. "The
Good Samaritan Bowl combines our passion for football
and our mission to help youth get on track for higher
education. Sports America has a reputation for producing
first-rate high school sporting events, and we believe
this game will further establish the Good Samaritan
Foundation, while also increasing its resources and
capabilities."
"The Naval Academy Athletic Association is very
excited to host the Good Samaritan Bowl and we look
forward to establishing this game as a show place for
high school football players from the greater Washington,
Baltimore, and Annapolis area," said Kevin Sinnett,
Assistant Director of Athletics, Naval Academy. "Our
stadium is just completing a $40 million renovation
and this event will be a terrific way to showcase our
beautiful stadium and memorial park."

the Good Samaritan Foundation has worked tirelessly
to prepare youth for leadership in the community and
the workplace. Through their Student Training Opportunity
Program (STOP), the foundation provides nearly 70 inner-city
youth with year-round tutoring and mentoring to prepare
them for success in today's competitive society. Over
80% of Good Samaritan graduates are now attending institutions
such as Stanford University, Virginia State University,
